Training for your team
I offer 3 types of training for your team:
These can be online or in-person.
When would you need training on communication?
Your staff need training on how to have inclusive and accessible conversations (covering topics like feedback, assumptions, micro-aggressions and micro-affirmations).
Your team needs to know about inclusive and accessible copywriting (covering formats like emails, social media, slide decks, and more).
You want to embed DEI into every aspect of how you work.
Ettie is a white person with shoulder-length light brown hair. She’s wearing a cosy beige jumper, speaking to an audience off camera. Her hands are open and welcoming with a kind smile on her face.
Bespoke training
I design totally bespoke training sessions on inclusive language and accessible communication, to help your team become super-communicators.
I'll work with you to understand exactly your team's strengths, weaknesses and learning opportunities.
Together we'll co-create a learning programme that is totally tailored to your team. It will be interactive, warm, welcoming, supportive and joyful.
Feedback from workshop participants almost always include comments about how the session was engaging, inspiring and fun.
Topics we could cover in bespoke training:
Accessibility
Super-communicator for managers (how to communicate brilliantly with your team).
How to make your content work for all people who use it.
How to talk about Disability (and what not to do).
What reasonable adjustments are and how to support employees.
How to be an accessible communicator: how to write emails, presentations, speeches, text messages and more which are accessible for blind and visually impaired, deaf/Deaf, hard of hearing (and oh so many more) Disabled folks.
Communication
Become a super-communicator (how to be understood).
Introduction to neuroinclusive communication
how your words can work better for ADHD, autistic, dyslexic (and oh so many other neurodivergent) brains.
Persuasion and influence.
Responding to discrimination
how to manage your wellbeing as a social media manager, policy advocacy professional or anyone who’s exposed to harmful content.
Inclusion
Why words matter: inclusive language as a tool for transformation.
Stop hiding behind vague DEI claims: how to speak up for justice and equity.
From DEI jargon to radical action: why inclusive and accessible communication matters,
How to talk about important topics, without “washing” them (for example, climate change without greenwashing, social justice without wokewashing, LGBTQIA+ rights with pinkwashing, and so on).
And much more!
“I was worried that learning about inclusive and accessible communication would be very complicated, and that I’d get told off or shamed. Ettie’s masterclasses were practical, warm and fun to be at. I left fired up with energy.”
“Really valuable session, important discussion, where no question was judged. Lots of best practice advice to be more accessible and inclusive.”
